Not to drone on about the hotness, but it was 105 in La Mesa yesterday. So, it was a hot night. I ended up trying to sleep on the couch, but every part of me that was touching the couch was dripping wet with sweat. (We have no air conditioning, and no fans.) That, combined with a wonderful carousing group of boys that live two apartments down (think 18 years old in their first apartment, don't work and probably don't pay their own rent), I haven't slept since I woke up yesterday morning. Suffice it to say, I'm delirious.
Breakfast was quick. I might have slept through it. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz.
Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel w/PB&J
Somebody asked what PB I use. I use whatever "natural" brand is on sale. Right now that's Simply Jif. I'd love to say I have a stance on what kind of peanut butter I buy and I always stick to my guns, but... well... not so much. Here in my world, veggies occassionally get steamed in microwaveable bags, I sometimes use those dreaded artificial sweeteners and yes, I even buy the mainstream, non-organic brands for the sake of cost. What can I say? :) Life is busy, and I'm not rich.
I popped into work to take care of some stuff and then popped right back out. I don't even know how I managed to drive, although I did come the closest I've ever come to having an accident today. I'm guessing that's not a coincidence.
On my way home, I stopped at Walmart.
And this:
quickly became this:
It's a beautiful thing. I think I heard angels sing when I turned it on.
Hoping your day is COOL.
Talk at ya latas.

Yikes, sorry it is so hot!! Being without AC sucks.
ReplyDeleteAnd as far as the PB and your other food choices, I believe we each have to do what works for so. So rock on with your PB that was on sale. I buy mine at Costco because it is cheap :D
ack, hope the fan helps you get some sleep tonight! I used to put a damp towel over mine and it blew cold air around.
ReplyDeleteI buy what's cheap- sometimes organic, sometimes not. I can't afford to be picky!
Oh girl, hope you can get some rest tonight. That just stinks! I know how it is, it has been hot, hot, hot in my neck of the woods as well...115 degrees BUT I have Air...can't imagine. Keep a spray bottle of water near you and spray your skin now and then...it'll make the fan will feel like it's blowing ice cold.
ReplyDeleteI think I am becoming addicted to the Ezekiel raisin bread....love that stuff!
oh man, sounds like you need some serious sleep! Better go out for dinner tonight. you know, because they probably have AC at the restaurant!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree regarding buying food. I would love to have the funding to be able to buy fresh, organic & non processed and try to as much as possible but something life & money get in the way!
Oh my goodness, I don't know how you got a wink of sleep in that heat! I already heat up so much on a regular night, I'd be a HOT mess if I had to try to sleep in that heat with no AC. Hope the fan helps you out tonight for sure!
ReplyDeleteHallelujah
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, yes, please, get yourself cooled off! A cold washcloth on the forehead maybe? Turn the fan straight on that! I bet you could get some free fans or AC's on craigslist or freecycle?
ReplyDeleteyikes! no air or fans! I must admit I love my A.C. Especially at night. I hate sleeping when its too warm.
ReplyDeletelovely breakfast :)
yeah i eat what's on sale too....
ReplyDeletehope it cools down!
I prefer a fan to air conditioning. It just seems so much more healthy!
ReplyDeleteI might have asked about the PB. I was just wondering. I have tried many things but I have resigned to just eat real PB. The last healthy PB I tried tasted like envelope paste.
