Mmmmm Heart Disease....
This was in SparkPeople news. About red meat. I do think in moderation, very lean red meat is probably ok, but not having it is way better, in my opinion. :) xoxo -j
If red meat is a staple of your diet, you might want to reconsider how much of it you're eating. A new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine looked at the diet of more than 500,000 Americans over a span of 10 years. It found that (other things being equal), men and women who consumed the most red and processed meat were likely to die sooner, especially from heart disease and cancer, than those who consumed much less. The increased mortality risk from consuming higher levels of red meat ranged from 20 to 40 percent.

That's another one to add to the list. Fortunately I hardly ever eat red meat so I guess I'm safe.
ReplyDeleteI eat red meat on occasion, but 'everything' is bad for you or causes cancer or heart disease. NOT eating red meat can be bad (aka low iron) for those that don't eat beans etc, ;)
ReplyDeleteI do, however, agree that you shouldn't consume processed meats. I don't think that you should period. Too many people eat preservatives and a long list of chemicals they are unaware of when they thrive on processed food.
I try not to eat too much red meat.

However, this is an alarming fact.
Even those who are aware need
