A Note from My Favorite Author

Check this out!

This is a postcard from my favorite author Natalie Goldberg. She mostly writes about writing. Her most famous book, Writing Down the Bones, is kind of considered a writing "Bible." I decided to send her a note to thank her for her work and to let her know that I've read all her books and enjoy them immensely.

She wrote me back!!!

How freaking cool is that?!? It's insane to me to think that this woman who I don't even know took the time to read my letter and actually respond. It made me feel AWESOME. :D

P.S. Just in case any of you reading this are the creepy stalker type (:p), that's my old address. Too bad, so sad.

This morning, I dropped Ryan off at work. I'm planning to take the car over to the old place to do some final cleaning and arrange the final walk through. On my way home from his work, I stopped at an interesting Starbucks on Aero Drive. All of the employees were wearing wacky wigs and being very animated. They had way more energy than I do at 8:30 am. But, it's Friday. That's enough to make anyone throw on a pigtail black fro, right?

(Near empty) Starbucks love:

Ok, I'm about to do some book work. Then, I have an important phone meeting at 11. Catch you all later!

  4. I read multiple books at one time, depending on frame of mind and mood. Strangely enough, I really enjoy reading books I've already read... I think I get a deeper appreciation of the language and some of the finer details on subsequent readings.

  6. On the other hand, the author was probably thinking 'how cool that someone liked my books so much!' That is pretty awesome!

Mostly, yes. I devour his books so I'm pretty sure there are only a few I haven't found yet.

  9. Super cool postcard!

I am scared to tell you I'm not a big book reader. If I do, it's about gardening, farming, etc. I read a lot of magazines, and seed catalogues I'll read over and over, year round.

  10. Hi, Jasmine,

I stumbled onto your blog this morning from a comment you left on anther blog...I'm enjoying reading through your past posts!

Fave author: I'm going through a Wendell Berry kick right now. It's not really fair to ask me to choose, though.

Read all his books? No, but I've read most of them.

Fiction or nonfiction? I like both, depending on my mood. I'm a moody reader.

Do you read multiple books at one time? Always, I feel off-kilter if I don't have at least 3 books going.

What are you reading right now? Berry (obviously), Katie MacAlister 'Love in the Time of Dragons', Vicki Spandel 'The Nine Rights of Every Writer' (book on teaching writing).

Next I'm going to start "The Trials of the Honorable F. Darcy" by Sara Angelini. It's supposed to be a fun, modern Pride and Prejudice retelling. Have you read it?
