This morning, I decided to make a warm, cozy bowl of oats.
I live "Inland" San Diego, in the mountains basically. On the other side of the moutains is a big desert. It's hot, very hot. That heat flows over the mountains and bakes my little town of La Mesa. This sometimes starts as early as April, and we don't have AC at our current apartment. Because of that, a warm bowl of oats is not exactly a breakfast you can enjoy year round here.
Wow. That was long-winded.
Okay, so I made my oats this morning with Chocolate Silk.
Quick thoughts on Soy Milk. I like it. I don't drink it all the time, because there are some pretty serious findings about the regular use of Soy over the long term. I do however believe that anything in moderation is okay. I buy it maybe once every two months.
Anyway... I use 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water with 1/2 cup oats.
I ran out of bowls this morning (need to run the dishwasher), so I used my big Guinness Mug.
Peanut Butter on the bottom. The only way.
I poured my oats in on top of the PB, and I broke two whole walnuts into pieces over the top. Yum!
So, I'm off to get some major writing done today. I hope your day is amazing!
What's your favorite way to eat oats? I think choc-pb is pretty high on my list.
Okay, that looks yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI started eating steel cut oats and use an overnight recipe. The next morning I add a splash of vanilla soy milk, vanilla protein powder, extra cinnamon and blueberries.
ReplyDeleteChocolate oats? Yum! I usually make mine with just water, no milk, and stir in a banana and flax. At the end, a big scoop of unsalted PB on top. :D
ReplyDeleteLove you mug? Oats and Guinness sound pretty good ;)
ReplyDeleteOats Almond butter and some sort of a jam.. yum
Soy milk is another one of those controversial topics isn't it! I'm yet to make up my mind and, like you, I use it now and again but not on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of chocolate soy milk!
You sold me with the walnuts. Add walnuts or pecans to anything and I'm in.
ReplyDeletebanana and cocoa. Or I like the no sugar added peaches and cinnamon :) yummmmm. Glad you mentioned the soy thing. I drink almond milk now, pretty good if you get it in the fridge section, i don't like whatever sits on the shelf..some reason not the same.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely -- everything in moderation is best. I will have to try that peanut butter on the bottom method with oats (for some reason I always just dollop my pb on top, but your method sounds much better!). A couple of my favorite oats are carrot cake and cinnamon bun...breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yum!! Pb and chocolate... can't go wrong there :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way is with lots of cinnamon, banana, bluberries, almond butter, and maple syrup. Delicious!
I like my oats simple. Though now that you mentioned it, I might give PB and oats a try.
